Telford woman ordered to pay compensation after shoplifting expedition
A woman has appeared before Telford Magistrates’ Court to face charges relating to a string of thefts across Shrewsbury and Telford.
Sally Bushell, 42, appeared for a first hearing on 23 February 2026, where the court heard details of multiple shoplifting incidents occurring between September and November last year.
The court heard that on 9 September 2025, Bushell targeted several retailers in Shrewsbury. During this spree, she stole:
- Fragrances and cosmetics from Boots valued at £362.99.
- Clothing and underwear from H&M worth £305.81.
- A “Bio Exorcist” bag from HMV valued at £17.99.

Bushell was also charged with a further theft on 1 November 2025, involving hair products and a gift set worth £34 from the Boots store in Telford.
Bushell pleaded guilty to all charges of theft from a shop, contrary to section 1(1) and 7 of the Theft Act 1968.
Magistrates took her guilty pleas into account when passing sentence. She was ordered to pay compensation to the retailers for the full value of the stolen items, totalling £720.79. No order for costs was made.
