Arleston woman handed 20-month driving ban for drink driving

An Arleston woman has been stripped of her driving licence for 20 months after being caught behind the wheel while more than double the legal alcohol limit.

Emma Collingwood, 50, appeared before Telford Magistrates’ Court on 27 February 2026 for a first hearing following an incident earlier that month.

The court heard that on 15 February 2026, Collingwood was driving an Audi TT on Hall Park Way in Telford. When tested by officers, she was found to have 89 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit in England is 35 microgrammes.

Collingwood, of Griffin Drive, pleaded guilty to driving a motor vehicle when her alcohol level was above the limit.

Magistrates took her guilty plea into account when sentencing. Along with the 20-month disqualification, Collingwood was ordered to pay a total of £1,807. This includes:

  • Fine: £1,230
  • Victim Surcharge: £492
  • Prosecution Costs: £85

The court issued a collection order, allowing the defendant to pay the balance in monthly instalments of £150, starting in March.

Collingwood was offered the opportunity to reduce her ban by 20 weeks if she successfully completes a drink-drive rehabilitation course by April 2027.
