Broseley man handed three-year driving ban for dual drug-driving offences

A man from Broseley has been banned from the roads for three years after being caught driving in Telford with both amphetamine and cannabis in his system.

Gregory Butler, 38, of Windsor Crescent in Broseley, appeared before Telford Magistrates’ Court on 27 February 2026 to face charges for two separate drug-driving charges.

The court heard that on 2 December 2025, Butler was operating a silver Toyota Verso on Majestic Way in Telford. Subsequent blood tests revealed that he was over the legal limit for two different controlled substances.

Butler pleaded guilty to driving with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit. The levels recorded in his blood were:

  • Amphetamine: Not less than 700ug/L (exceeding the specified limit).
  • Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC): Not less than 7.1 ug/L (exceeding the specified limit).

Magistrates took Butler’s guilty pleas into account when passing the sentence. For the amphetamine offence, he was issued a £50 fine and an obligatory driving disqualification of 3 years.

For the second offence involving cannabis, the court issued no separate penalty but applied a concurrent three-year disqualification.
