Harassment campaign leaves Wellington man with fine and restraining order
A 64-year-old man from Wellington has appeared before Telford Magistrates’ Court after a week-long campaign of harassment against a local woman.
Terry Morris, of King Street, appeared in court on 3 March 2026 to face a charge of harassment without violence. The court heard that between 21 March and 27 March 2024, Morris pursued a course of conduct which he knew, or ought to have known, amounted to the harassment.
The prosecution stated that Morris repeatedly targeted the victim by making numerous phone calls and sending her letters over the seven-day period.
Morris entered a guilty plea, which the Magistrates took into account during sentencing. He was handed a 12-month conditional discharge, meaning he will face no further immediate punishment provided he does not commit another offence during that time.
However, the court took steps to protect the victim by imposing a restraining order. Morris is now prohibited from contacting his victim, directly or indirectly, by any means whatsoever until 2 March 2027.
In addition to the discharge and the restraining order, Morris was ordered to pay:
- £85.00 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.
- £26.00 victim surcharge.
The court issued a collection order, with Morris required to pay the total balance in monthly instalments of £50.00 starting in April.
