Telford man sentenced for making and possessing hundreds of indecent images of children
A Telford man has been sentenced at Shrewsbury Crown Court after admitting to making and possessing nearly 1,000 indecent and prohibited images and videos of children over a nine-year period.
Edward Georgescu, 52, from Arleston, appeared for sentencing on 6 March 2026, having previously indicated guilty pleas to multiple charges in November 2024. The offences took place in Telford between May 2013 and June 2022.
The court heard that the collection included 81 Category A images and videos, which are classified as the most serious level of indecent material. Georgescu also made 126 Category B images and videos, 804 Category C images and videos, and was found in possession of 23 prohibited images of children.
Circuit Judge P Barrie handed Georgescu a community order to run until 6 June 2027. As part of this order, Georgescu must complete 200 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months. He was also ordered to participate in the MAPPS for Change programme for 20 days and complete a 20-day rehabilitation activity requirement.
In addition to the community order, a Sexual Harm Prevention Order was imposed for five years. This order strictly monitors his use of technology, including a requirement to notify the police VISOR team of any internet-enabled device he acquires and a ban on using incognito or private browsing modes.
Georgescu is now required to register with the police for five years, reporting to Malinsgate Police Station. The judge also ordered the forfeiture of his personal computer, mobile phone, and USB devices seized during the investigation. He was ordered to pay £150 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service and a £114 victim surcharge.
