BBC series casting for Telford kids who struggle with friendship
A television production company behind hit shows like The Dog House is currently looking for families in Telford and the surrounding areas to take part in a brand new documentary series. The show, titled Will You Be My Friend?, is being produced by Five Mile Films for the BBC and aims to explore the complexities of childhood friendships in the modern world.
The series will follow children aged between five and eight years old who find it difficult to navigate social circles. Producers are looking for local youngsters who may feel left out, find themselves overwhelmed in social situations, or simply feel unsure about how to connect with peers their own age.
The programme aims to provide practical support for these children. Across three half-days, a team of leading child psychologists will work with the participants to help them build the confidence and social skills required to form lasting bonds. Following this expert guidance, each child will be sensitively matched on a playdate with a potential new friend from their local area.
Casting researchers for the project believe the subject matter will resonate with parents in Shropshire. They have noted that many families are currently concerned about friendship difficulties, loneliness, and the lingering social impact of the pandemic and screen time on young children. By focusing on the local area, the production team hopes to find families who feel their child could benefit from a little extra support in finding their feet socially.
