Hollinswood man banned for three years after drink driving near retail park
A 39 year-old man from Hollinswood has been stripped of his driving licence for three years after he was caught behind the wheel while nearly double the legal alcohol limit.
Kyle Bailey, of Duffryn, appeared before Telford Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 16 March, to face a charge of driving a motor vehicle when his alcohol level was above the limit.
The court heard that on Sunday 1 March 2026, Bailey was driving a Vauxhall Astra near Telford Forge Retail Park on Colliers Way. When tested by officers, he was found to have 69 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit in England is 35 microgrammes.
Bailey entered a guilty plea, which the magistrates took into account during sentencing. He was disqualified from driving for 36 months, though he was offered a 36-week reduction in that ban if he successfully completes a driving course by May 2028.
In addition to the driving ban, Bailey was ordered to pay a fine of £461. He must also cover £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service and a victim surcharge of £184.
The court issued a collection order for the total balance, with the defendant required to make monthly instalments of £100 starting in April.
