Telford man banned from driving for multiple offences

A man from Trench has been handed a six-month driving disqualification following appearances at Telford Magistrates’ Court for multiple motoring offences.

Joseph Michael Lube, 39, was sentenced this week for separate incidents involving speeding in Shropshire and using a handheld device while driving on a motorway.

The court heard that on 10 October 2025, Lube was caught by manned equipment exceeding the 30mph limit while driving a Vauxhall on Holyhead Road in Oakengates. For this offence, he was fined £60 and had his driving record endorsed with three penalty points. His guilty plea was taken into account by the magistrates during sentencing on 17 March 2026.

In a separate matter dealt with during the same court session, Lube pleaded guilty to using a handheld mobile phone or device while driving a motor vehicle. This incident occurred on 13 October 2025, just days after the speeding offence, while he was driving on the M40 between junctions 2 and 3A near Beaconsfield.

For the mobile phone offence, Lube was fined £80 and ordered to pay a £56 surcharge. While the offence carried a notional six penalty points, the court imposed a six-month disqualification from driving. No order for costs was made due to the defendant’s limited means.

The court ordered that the total financial penalties must be paid in full by 14 April 2026.
