The operators the new Telford radio station have revealed some of the presenters that they have lined up, and also some of the features they have planned.

Austin Powell, and experienced radio station told Telford Live about the plans for the station due to launch next month.

Organisers of the UK’s largest touring soapbox derby say spaces are flying off the shelves following the news that the event is coming to Telford for the first time. Since the council announced the July 12th race date last month, more than half of the 40 available spots have already been snapped up.

On Thursday 11 December from 5.15pm there will be music in the air as people are invited to come along and join in a festive sing-along in the build up to Christmas.

A festive Christmas Village and Santa’s Grotto have officially opened at Exotic Zoo on selected dates across December.

The zoo team at Telford Town Park have constructed new wooden cabins for the Christmas Village, which is open from 4pm – 7pm on selected dates. Local businesses will trade from the new cabins, and the Candy Cane Café will be open for boozy hot chocolates, mulled wine, and food. Twinkling lights will guide visitors around the festive market stalls, and you can also see the twilight zoo animals. You can visit the Christmas Village without the Grotto by pre-booking or paying on the day.

A special celebration is taking place tomorrow as the town marks its first Telford Day, with activities revolving around the new Christmas Yurt. The festivities begin on Saturday, November 29, in Southwater and run for over a week.

Tomorrow is the official Telford Day, marking the date in 1968 when the new town was established. Residents are invited to join the celebration, which includes the opening of the Made in Telford Christmas Makers Market, open daily from 10am until 8pm.

A packed programme of activities is on offer across Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin this winter thanks to a local charity – including the chance for young people to learn bushcraft.

4 All Foundation has this week announced the dates and locations for its Christmas holiday programme, with children eligible for free school meals (FSMs) able to attend for free. Activities will vary each day but will include multi-sports, dance, baking, arts and crafts, and outside activities (weather permitting).

Councillor Holding said the idea would have to be put on the “back burner” but it’s “full steam ahead” for events at Christmas.

There is less than a week to go before the first Telford Day event kicks off a host of celebrations and Christmas activity in Telford.

The Made In Telford Christmas Makers Market will launch Telford Day activities and will be open from 10am in Southwater featuring local artisan crafts. Alongside the market, the Christmas Yurt will have activities on throughout the day including a film screening of Cinderella with children’s activities from 10.30am.

There’s a new event coming to Telford in 2026. Telford & Wrekin Council in partnership with Krazy Races the UK’s largest touring soapbox derby is coming to Telford for the very first time on Sunday 12 July.

Wellington is set for a bright Christmas as the Town Council has invested significantly in a new festive lighting scheme across the town. The new LED displays, which are intended to enhance civic pride, will be officially switched on by Mayor, Councillor Reg Snell, on Saturday, November 29.

The investment is the first major renewal and enhancement of the festive lights in over a decade. Crucially, it has allowed for the scheme to expand into new areas. Residents will soon see new displays lighting up the neighbourhoods of Shawbirch, Brooklands, and Arleston, alongside a striking display on the busy Morrisons roundabout.

Shifnal Town Council is inviting residents and visitors to mark their calendars for a Christmas Lights Switch On event on Saturday, November 29th, celebrating a significant long-term investment aimed at putting Shifnal firmly on the map for its festive lights.

Town councillors are promising to ‘light up Wellington’ with all-new Christmas illuminations this year.

The Shropshire town’s council has an increased budget of £27,500 to spend on  putting on a modern show with changeable coloured lights as it looks to get people in the Christmas spirit across the centre of Wellington, Arleston, Brooklands and Shawbirch.
