Wellington is set for a bright Christmas as the Town Council has invested significantly in a new festive lighting scheme across the town. The new LED displays, which are intended to enhance civic pride, will be officially switched on by Mayor, Councillor Reg Snell, on Saturday, November 29.

The investment is the first major renewal and enhancement of the festive lights in over a decade. Crucially, it has allowed for the scheme to expand into new areas. Residents will soon see new displays lighting up the neighbourhoods of Shawbirch, Brooklands, and Arleston, alongside a striking display on the busy Morrisons roundabout.

A day of celebrating all things Telford is set to take place at the end of November to kick off Christmas in style.

The Made In Telford Christmas Makers Market will launch Telford Day on 29 November and will be open from 10am in Southwater featuring local artisan crafts. 

Shifnal Town Council is inviting residents and visitors to mark their calendars for a Christmas Lights Switch On event on Saturday, November 29th, celebrating a significant long-term investment aimed at putting Shifnal firmly on the map for its festive lights.

Town councillors are promising to ‘light up Wellington’ with all-new Christmas illuminations this year.

The Shropshire town’s council has an increased budget of £27,500 to spend on  putting on a modern show with changeable coloured lights as it looks to get people in the Christmas spirit across the centre of Wellington, Arleston, Brooklands and Shawbirch.

Dobbies Garden Centres is encouraging customers to come along to the Telford store on Thursday 27 November to be the first to shop exclusive Black Friday offers at its late-night shopping event, in aid of Alzheimer’s Research UK.

Customers at the Telford store will receive a glass of prosecco or a soft drink on arrival, the opportunity to book in to visit Santa in his North Pole adventure themed Grotto and enjoy entertainment from local community groups who have been invited to perform in store.

The first ever scarecrow festival will be held at Apley Farm Shop during half term, with designs submitted from nearby schools, Scouts and Beaver groups and children’s community groups near the site at Norton, on the A442 between Telford and Bridgnorth.

There will be more than 20 scarecrows on display for visitors to come and see from October 27 to November 2 and the group that is judged to have designed the top three scarecrows will win a prize.
