The leader of Telford & Wrekin Council claims the changes would turn our A&E “from a supermarket to a corner shop”, Health Chiefs say this new model of care was designed, led and supported by clinicians.
According to NHS Shropshire and Telford, changes will see patients benefit from fewer cancellations and delays for planned procedures and a more streamlined and effective emergency care service, with fewer ambulance handover delays, delivered from a dedicated, modern Emergency Department.

Telford is one of the largest towns in the Country ,with thousands of new houses having recently been built and a rapidly growing population . It should without doubt have a 24 hour fully functioning A & E service. It takes 20 minutes to get to NewCross hospital Wolverhampton , and over 35 to reach Shrewsbury hospital for those living on the East side. Donnington, Shifnal, Priorslee, Oakengates etc . It will not only cost lives , it’s a senseless waste of money in these challenging times. The Princess Royal Hospital in Telford has recently had a new Maternity Unit and upgraded A & E facilities , the system is far from perfect, but it surpasses many other ED hospitals in comparison. From the many polls and questionnaire’s, the majority of people don’t agree with these ridiculously dangerous proposals .
Please don’t downgrade the PRH A & E , it will cost lives .
