Thomas Telford Primary Free School Gears Up for September 2025 Opening
Places have opened up for children to join in each of the following classes for September 2025: Year 1, Year 2, Year 3 and Year 4/5.
The new Thomas Telford Primary Free School in Priorslee, announces significant progress towards its highly anticipated opening in September 2025. The new school, set to serve the whole of Telford, has reached key milestones, including the completion of its first phase of recruitment and the full allocation of its inaugural Reception class places.
“Our first phase of recruitment is now complete, and this is an important milestone as we move closer to opening our doors for the first time in September 2025,” Claire Whiting, Executive Headteacher at the school stated. “We have appointed an excellent team of professionals who are enthusiastic and looking forward to meeting the children and families who will form a pivotal part of our school community.”
While the permanent school building is under construction, temporary accommodation will be provided for the 2025-2026 academic year.

In a promising sign of local demand, all 30 places for the Reception class have already been allocated, with families receiving New Starter Information Packs in the post. This strong uptake underscores the community’s eagerness for the new educational provision.
However, opportunities still remain for children in other year groups. Thomas Telford Primary Free School currently has school places available for September 2025 in Year 1, Year 2, Year 3, and a combined Year 4/5 class.

The application window for joining in Years 1-5 officially opens on Monday, June 16, 2025.
