Road closed after electricity cable fire in Ironbridge

Firefighters were called to an incident involving a downed power cable on Cherry Tree Hill in Ironbridge on Friday afternoon.

The call was made to Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service at 12:07, prompting one appliance to be sent from the Telford Central station.

Upon arrival, crews discovered an electricity cable down and arcing. Engineers from Western Power also attended the scene to isolate the supply.

The road was closed to traffic while the site was made safe. A stop message was received by fire control at 13:52.
