Veezu, the UK’s biggest private hire vehicle operator, has bought Go Carz, amazingly the UK’s sixth largest private hire car business.

Veezu is the UK’s largest multi-region taxi and private hire company, delivering more than 13 million private hire journeys per year, equating to an overall transaction value in excess of £120million.

The company also owns A2B Radio Cars in the West Midlands, Amber Cars in Leeds, Dragon Taxis in South Wales and V Cars in the South West.

This latest deal sees Veezu now operating with more than 6,000 driver partners, making it the biggest private hire business in the UK.

Nathan Bowles, CEO of Veezu said: “I’m delighted to welcome everyone at Go Carz to Veezu. Go Carz is an extremely well managed and established business that complements our existing private hire brands. I look forward to working with Carl Wilday, Graham Hoof and Robin Gibson who will be helping us realise the Go Carz regional growth plan.”

Starting out over 25 years ago in Telford, Carl Wilday had built the built the business up into what is known as Go Carz. It operates in Shrewsbury and into the West Midlands, but started in Telford. The firm has than 1,200 driver partners, and completed five million journeys last year.

Carl Wilday, Managing Director of Go Carz, said: “It’s very much business as usual. The Go Carz brand will be staying, and we will continue to be based out of our existing Head Office in Shrewsbury and our regional offices around Shropshire and the West Midlands. Being part of Veezu brings us access to additional resource and expertise, as well as the next generation of technology innovation that will benefit both the driver partners and passengers of Go Carz.”

The value of the deal, completed in March is undisclosed.

Twice I was told to put live location on my phone to show my friends I was safe
I told the driver I already did that

I’ve heard stories but if I believed every bad story I heard about a company I would never use any company for anything

  • Used twice, nightmare both times!! One driver turned up 45 mins late, no apology or explanation!! The other occasion the driver didn’t know my address, had a sat nav but insisted I gave him directions as he didn’t like using the sat nav!! He hardly spoke a word of English either!! Worst driver I’ve ever had the misfortune to be with!! Never used them again!!

  • Let’s hope the new management get better drivers and vet them better than the last owners, also that the drivers know not to drive down the wrong way on the Eastern primary. Its shocking of the amount of posts I see with this company, over charging, inappropriate comments by drivers, and lots more. Not stating all the drivers are bad, but there are some bad eggs in there

  • let’s hope they do a better job and get some decent drivers. I know that not all the drivers are the same as there are some that are good drivers . but there are a few who seem to think the road laws don’t apply to them .

  • Amber Cars, the notorious Leeds taxi service, locking women in cars and dropping them off in the middle of nowhere when screaming to be let out!!

And I’m sure Go Carz used to have an old trading name about 10yrs ago, i was fresh out of high school & the driver dropped me off at college saying if you ever want a real life sex Ed ill give you my number.. got him 2 pull in to Telford train station & walked the rest of the way -_-

  • Would rather walk tbh

Had one too many drivers not wear a seat belt, and swing round corners like nobodies business

  • Hopefully they’ll make sure that their drivers recognise pedestrians and cyclists as human beings and not just target practice?…..

  • I think go carz recruits direct from the sex offenders register! Walking home is safer than using them.
Management give zero shits about their customers or reputation.

  • Id rather walk home in the pitch black with a serial killer behind me then use this company ever

  • Until they drivers are retested and dbs checked and assessed I would rather walk home than use a go carz taxi doesn’t matter who own it the staff and drivers are still the same. I’m not saying all the drivers are bad but the few I’ve had in the past are enough to keep me away

  • As a driver, I agree to some comments made, but we are already DBS checked, but that doesn’t mean the person ain’t ever been caught doing the se* thing, a clean start and re-vetting of all the drivers would be a good start for the new company.
