Global support for local club

Global company Schneider Electric have teamed up with local cycling club Newport Shropshire Cycling Club (NSCC) to become an official club sponsor together with Bank Top Garage

NSCC Chairman Nick Jeggo said” This is a real milestone for the club to be aligned with a Global business who pride themselves in investing in future technology, sustainability and the environment “

This matches our DNA as a club we develop future talent from the local area in terms of confidence and wellbeing. I’m really excited to see the Schneider Electric brand being worn on our cycling kit.

Yvane Smallberger Head of Offer Marketing for Schneider Electric added “This is a great opportunity for us to work with a well-respected local cycling club. Investing in early careers and future talent is a huge part of what Schneider Electric is about and NSCC are also investing in its youth program with future talented riders racing at regional and national level in lots of different cycling disciplines from cyclocross in the winter to Circuit racing, road racing and track racing in velodromes.”

NSCC were formed in 1976 by the late Robert Prentice, who formed the Burton Borough Cycling Club and started out with its young members competing in circuit racing, time trials, grass track and hard track racing throughout the Midlands. With increasing interest from parents and friends it was decided to open up the club to more like-minded people who enjoyed cycling; and so in 1977 the Newport (Salop) Cycling Club was formed.

In 2007 it was decided that the name of the club needed to be brought up to date and was renamed Newport Shropshire Cycling Club (NSCC) and currently have over 200+ members as well as a flourishing youth bike club. NSCC understand the importance of bringing and then nurturing new blood into the sport of cycling, so with the help of British Cycling, Newport CC have a team of qualified British Cycling Level 2 coaches.
